The Secret Place Is Where I Hear Your Voice

“He that dwells in the secret place of the Most  High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” (Psalm. 91:1-4)

Does a thirst for holiness, right living, faith, loyalty to God, faithfulness to your God-given assignment in serving your family and others, prayer, and other positive traits characterize your life as one who professes faith in the Almighty? If not, then it’s time for you to find yourself in the secret place of The Most High – the most intimate place of soul-searching prayer and spirit-filled devotion to Him.

As a mother and wife, it can oftentimes be challenging to find spare time to spend with the Lord. Quiet time with God should be quality time spent in His presence, learning from Him and keenly listening to what He has to say. Yes, it will require sacrifice, but it’s worth it! James 4:8 says to “Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you…” Therefore, make a concerted effort each morning and evening and all throughout the day to make time to fill up your spiritual tank so that the Father can fill you up with more and more of His Spirit.

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father,
who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret,
will reward.” (Matthew 6:6)

I know how easy it is to get bogged down by all the housework, home education activities, church and community involvement, work, and life in general. However, let us not forget for a moment that unless we are connected to the Source of all life and power and strength, then as a wife and mother we won’t be able to minister as effectively to our husband and children as the Father intends. So take time to pray every day. It will make all the difference in your personal walk and in your family circle.

What a beautiful reminder to us to day to draw close to our Lord. It is hard for me to find time also but over the years I have learned it is easier to give something else up than to give up my time with God. No time with God means no peace in other areas which can be very hard.

Hi Carmen, I love how you said “no time with God means no peace in the other areas of our lives.” I have come to realize that also. It is indeed important to make time to talk with God.

Hi Carmen, you are absolutely correct when you say “no time with God means no peace.” Whenever I do not start my day with prayer and communion with God, those are usually my most difficult days. I pray we will always seek to spend quality time with Him and do not allow the business of life to consume us.
