Trust His Heart

by Shauna Menns
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean
not unto thine own understanding. In all thy
ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct
thy paths. Proverbs 3:5,6
When you wonder whether you’ve made the right choices in life,
And look at the outcome of those decisions, and cringe and shake your head;
When you question the things you do from day to day,
And sometimes feel as though you have somehow lost your way;
Remember that your Heavenly Father’s divine providence is at work in your life,
And that He knows the end from the beginning,
So, purpose to trust His heart.
When your feeble hands, feet, and body are wracked with pain,
And you feel as though you have no strength to go on another day;
When your mind is overwhelmed and so inundated with the pressures of life,
And you’re swimming in a cesspool of stress and busyness that’s sometimes unprofitable;
Remember that your Heavenly Father has promised to renew your troubled mind,
And give you peace and rest for your weary soul,
So, without apprehension, seek to trust His heart.
When it seems like time is not on your side after you take a look back at your life,
And in the mirror each day you see wrinkles, and greys, and other signs of age;
When the children you once thought were so little and cute are all grown up,
And you realize that you just added another 10 years to your own portfolio;
Remember that your Heavenly Father is still walking by your side,
And all along life’s journey has promised to grow with you as you seek to mature with Him,
So, readily embrace the changes life brings and trust His heart.
When you sometimes feel like giving up because your situation seems hopeless,
And you struggle to handle the challenges that you’re constantly faced with;
When your hopes get dashed, you’re frustrated, and you wish you could just start all over,
And the inner flame that once burned brightly with zeal and excitement now flickers dimly;
Remember that your Heavenly Father has power enough to strengthen and help you,
And has promised to give you direction and order your steps aright,
So, without fear and reservation, trust His heart.
Trust isn’t easy, especially after having it compromised by someone you dearly loved. I know that others will be punished because of that experience. However, He knows that, and that’s why He has given His Holy Spirit to us so that we can learn how to trust Him in our daily experiences. He is always and forever faithful and has made numerous promises to us that He is willing and able to fulfill if we only give Him the chance to do so.
Be encouraged today, my dear sister. If you’re low on trust today, earnestly seek His face and ask Him to help you to trust Him openly, honestly, lovingly, and faithfully. He wants better for you because He knows you deserve better and wants you to live the abundant life He has promised for you now. So, make a covenant from this day forward not to depend upon yourself for all the answers, but in everything, seek to acknowledge Him in all you do and trust His heart.
