Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God:for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. (Psalm 43:5)
So many of us as women find ourselves in a place of low esteem and self-image. We go through life from an early age admiring and aspiring to be someone that we are really not and then later on in life we are faced with the same paradox.
After going through numerous relationships (physical, filial, and spiritual) that may have rocked our world, to now finding the person who we deem as the ‘right’ guy for us, and then being exposed to the roller coaster of the experience that surrounds child-bearing and child-rearing, we don’t really realize how much of a psychological and physiological imbalance occurs at times.
Subsequently, it is easy to find ourselves in a depressed state and in a very low place mentally and emotionally, so much so that we may get to a place where we have no desire to live. We may find ourselves in a place of utter despair, feeling completely helpless and incapable of determining what to do next.
If any of these scenarios describe you in any way, I encourage you today to seek the help of the One who created you, knows you inside and out, and also understands the situation that you’re in at this moment. If He seems too far away, then help is available, and I encourage you to reach out and ask for help from someone who is trustworthy and honest. Perhaps it’s a godly friend or family member, a spiritual advisor such as a Pastor or Chaplain, or it could be a trained professional like a Counselor or Therapist.
There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of when we’re feeling all alone and in desperate need of help. When we are not walking in the love and grace and peace of God wholeheartedly, not only does it affect us, but it affects everyone who is connected to us. So don’t allow pride to keep you from getting help so that you can come out of that dark place and be on the path to healing, restoration, and wholeness.
