"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7.
Several months ago, my parents and I were discussing a serious family matter that seemed virtually impossible to resolve. My dad, as usual, figured more or less that it wasn’t worth worrying about, so he basically resigned to letting time handle the situation. My mom, on the other hand, was absolutely stressed out about it and I could tell that she was going to need some support to handle this situation.
I took some time to consider the best approach and subsequently contacted her one-on-one and encouraged her to take heart and not to be discouraged about what God is able to do. I told her that we should take time to pray about it and believe that the Lord will hear and answer in His own time and in His own way. Subsequently, she agreed and we forged ahead in laying the matter before our Heavenly Father.
On numerous occasions, she requested my help and sought my advice. I did what I could and prayerfully addressed the matter every time, always believing that the Lord would somehow work things out. We went out on a limb several times and solicited assistance from different professionals to assist us, which was a blessing, because we started to make some headway, or so we thought.
At one point, there seemed to be one roadblock after another, one disappointment after another. http://theychangedme.com
Through it all, I tried my best to remind her that God is ultimately in control and that even when we don’t know how things will work out, and when we cannot see the final outcome, our gracious Heavenly Father has foresight into all our affairs and truly cares about us and what we’re going through.
One day, a year after the inception of this journey, I sat contemplating just how blessed we are. I got to thinking about how God orchestrates our lives and orders each step we take. I reflected upon how He allows our paths to cross those of other people who can really make a difference in our lives and vice versa, especially when we find ourselves in situations where only a miracle will bring a resolution.
While I was deep in thought regarding these things, my mom contacted me to inform me that she had a lead that could potentially give us the breakthrough we have been hoping and praying for. One morning, approximately two months later, I received a text from her indicating that the answer to our prayer had just become a reality that very morning. Overcome with joy and gratitude, I immediately responded to her and praised the Lord for giving us the answer to our prayers.
Wow! What an amazing journey of faith and hope and trust in God.
All along, He knew the end from the beginning. http://theychangedme.com
All we had to do was simply go out on a limb and let Him do the rest.
We certainly have firsthand experience with the practical application of walking by faith and not trusting our senses. Even in the midst of disappointing moments, we received reassurance from the Spirit that our merciful, gracious, amazing Heavenly Father was at work and that His way is best. As a result of this experience, I have an added reason to trust my future to His loving care and pray that you will also be encouraged to do the same today.
Dear Heavenly Father:
I owe you such a debt of gratitude for your benevolence towards me. Thank you for coming through for us, even when our faith is weak and small at times. Please teach us through every situation how to trust You more and more, and help us to see Your hand at work all around us. May we know that it’s okay to go out on a limb and believe with our heart and not with our eyes that You are working all things together for our good.
We love and praise You for hearing and answering prayers. Amen!
